North Carolina Massage Therapy Continuing Education Requirements

Massage therapy continuing education requirements for license renewal vary from state to state and the laws are constantly changing. It is our current understanding that North Carolina requires massage therapists to complete 24 CE hours every 2 years for license renewal, of which 3 CE hours must be in ethics.

While license expirations indicate December 31st, it is important to know that the renewal deadline for North Carolina is November 1st.

What We Can Do For You!

  • You may take up to 12 CE hours of the required 24 through our home study programs. As of March 16, 2020 the North Carolina Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy has stated that for the renewal period ending in December 31, 2020 the Board will be allowing ALL CE courses to be online/home study. Therefore, you may take all of the required 24 CE hours through our home study programs.. For more information please visit https://www.bmbt.org/downloads/newsletters/LMBTs%20COVID-19.pdf
  • You can use our various ethics continuing education courses to satisfy your North Carolina requirement.
  • Because the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider, the North Carolina Board of Massage will accept all of our 145+ courses to satisfy the 12-hour home study option with the exception of courses related to animal massage.

If you would like to verify this information, or have further questions regarding your massage therapy continuing education requirements, we suggest contacting the North Carolina Board of Massage directly. The telephone number for the North Carolina Board is 919-546-0050 or visit their website at http://www.bmbt.org/.
