How long it takes for you to receive the course is dependent upon the type of shipping method you choose. Standard delivery takes about 7 to 10 business days, Priority takes 2 to 4 business days and if you would like to receive your order faster you may choose to have your courses sent as a Rush which takes between 2 and 3 business days. Orders are processed within 2 business days and this timeframe is in addition to the shipping time frames. The continuing education hours that are designated to each program are based on the results of pilot tests conducted by your peers. Keep in mind that for some people it may take longer to complete the course than the hours specified, but for others it might take less time.

All courses are administered to pilot testers who provide information as to how long it has taken them to complete each course objective, as well as the entire course. The average time frame for this course completion is what is then used to determine how many hours will be granted for the completion of the course. Please keep in mind that it will take some students longer to finish a course and others will finish it in less time than indicated by the credit hours.

We require that you complete each course within one year from the date of enrollment, this includes online courses. No. If you complete the test on paper we mail the certificate directly to you and if you complete it online you will print your own certificate. State boards and sponsoring organizations that require continuing education credits typically require that you complete a form and you do not need to submit a certificate at the time of renewal. You will need to keep your certificate, as stated in your organizations' laws and rules, in the case of an audit. For the states of Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia we submit course completions to the Boards as required.

We are not a massage school, therefore we do not certify massage therapists. Instead we are an approved continuing education provider for those people who have already been trained and certified as massage therapists or bodywork professionals and must earn continuing education credits for their state licensure board, National Certification Board (NCBTMB) or sponsoring organizations. You may certainly take our courses and will receive a Certificate when finished, however you will not be certified upon completion of any of our programs.

A disclaimer is placed on the bottom of a Certificate when a student has either not supplied us with information regarding licensure, certification or number of hours earned through a massage training school program or has not completed our minimum hour requirement of documented training in massage or bodywork. This disclaimer states, "this documentation does not certify competency or qualifications of the course participant". We do this to protect the integrity of massage therapists as fully trained professionals as well as to protect massage clients.

Our courses can be taken by a person with extensive massage therapy training as well as a person that has only taken a few massage therapy courses. To protect the integrity of massage therapists as fully trained professionals as well as to protect massage clients, not all course participants are eligible to receive a Display Certificate. Upon requesting a Display Certificate the Institute will review the information provided regarding the number of training hours you obtained to determine if you are eligible to receive a Display Certificate.

COMTA, or the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation, is an agency that approves and accredits schools of massage therapy. Since we are not a massage therapy school, this accreditation does not apply.

We suggest going online to see the laws and rules in Florida, it was suggested by the legal counsel for the Florida Board of Massage, that you should go to http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/massage/ma_statutes.html. You may also contact the board directly at 850-245-4161 to ask for a copy of the laws and rules.

Our intention for the phrase “Total Hours of Professional Training” is to assess the total number of supervised, in-class clock hours received through a formal training/educational program. By using this statement, we are inclusive of other professionals such as chiropractors, physical therapists, nurses, etc. who have had formal training, and who may want to take our courses.

The Institute is an Approved Sponsor of continuing education by the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions (#0012). As we are not a school, we are not accredited with the US Department of Education.

If you can't see the course you purchased, it could be due to a variety of reasons. The most common reason for this to happen is because it has been longer than one year since the date you enrolled in the course. If so, you will find it in the expired courses section of your account.

If the course isn't showing up in your online account in either the pending courses or expired courses section, then your order was most likely placed using a different email address, and therefore a duplicate account was created for you. Please refer back to the order confirmation email you received to verify the email address you used when purchasing.

If you still have questions, please call us toll-free at 1-800-364-5722 (or 845-361-3900) so that we may update the account. We are available to personally serve you Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm EST.

The CPT codes in the course text are current as of the copyright date. Within the text there is mention of a website to obtain the most up-to-date ICD-9 coding, at www.icd9coding.com.

Ethics & Insurance Billing Package course contains CPT codes. The codes are current up until the date of the copyright date of the publication. Since the codes may change from year to year, many therapists choose a yearly update service. Free options for obtaining the correct codes include:

  1. Visiting the website www.icd9coding.com. Note - this site contains all codes for all health related practice, so it may take a while to find what you are looking for.
  2. Before billing, a practitioner should always call and double check with the insurance company that they will accept a particular code. If you have the incorrect code, the company will tell you.
  3. If you belong to a professional organization, or have professional insurance, they may provide free updated copies of CPT codes.
  4. Contact the massage school you attended. Often, they will do their alumni the courtesy of faxing a recent CPT list.
If you do not receive a passing score on the online test, you can retake the test at no extra charge by simply returning to the test again.
