Tennessee Massage Therapy Continuing Education Requirements

Massage therapy continuing education requirements for license renewal vary from state to state and the laws are constantly changing. It is our current understanding that Tennessee requires massage therapists to complete 24 CE hours every 2 years for license renewal, of which 2 CE hours must be in Tennessee statutes and rules and 2 CE hours must be in practice management, ethics or substance abuse.

What We Can Do For You!

  • Effective February 17, 2021, all in-person/live continuing education requirements are being waived for any CE hours required to be obtained in 2020-2021. Therefore, you may earn CE hours through our home study programs to fulfill your continuing education requirements.

Beginning January 1, 2022, any CE hours taken in calendar year 2022 must be obtained as required by the Massage Therapy Board requirements. For more information, please review https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/health/healthprofboards/Policy-on-Continuing-Education.pdf
  • You can use our various ethics continuing education courses to satisfy this Tennessee requirement.
  • Because the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider, the Tennessee Board of Massage will accept any of our 145+ courses to satisfy your CE requirements with the exception of courses related to animal massage.
